About us

Hi, I’m Richard.
I’ve always believed that our companion animals are far more than just pets—they are distinct personalities, quiet confidants, and full-fledged members of the family. They deserve to be captured with the same dignity, depth, and respect as anyone else.
That’s why I created The Honest Whisker.
My approach to pet photography is built entirely around patience, kindness, and unforced authenticity. I don’t use high-stress studio setups or high-pressure sales games. Instead, I bring my camera directly to your companion’s “home turf” right here in the Manawatū, creating a relaxed, 30-minute environment where their true character can shine.
When I’m not behind the lens capturing every sharp whisker and unique expression, you’ll usually find me exploring the beautiful Manawatū region, fine-tuning my gear, or brainstorming the next local pop-up session.
